Tuesday night was night of reflection so Dave, Jen, Courtney and I drove down to Newburyport, MA to starbucks. We hung out there and reflected for awhile. Wednesday I went to work and had one of my coworkers ask me to pray for them so that was awesome. I came home and took a nap after that and it was nice and long. We then had bible study and community group. For community group we played chicks vs. dudes and then all ran and jumped in the ocean where it was FREEZING but we stayed and watched the fireworks. It was so cold that my fingers shrunk and my ring came off :( My friend JJ works at a wholesale jewelry store back at school so she said she can order me some new ones. Today was another day of work at DD. The only good thing about working the drive through is that I get to see all the puppys that people bring with them in the car and they are way cute (not anywhere near as cute as Roxanne though). Working the frontcounter is better though because I am so sociable that people like to give me tips. I think I am going to drive to the Salem, NH mall again today to go buy a new harddrive for my computer because thats the only apple store in the entire state (lame). Tonight is womens time and I think thats about it for today.

Monday was a pretty good day. I had work at DD and it has been slowing down a lot lately which is really nice. Drew and I went to the bank afterwards to get the rolly things for coins and rolled all of our tips. I then took a shower and had disciplship with Angela for the last time :( I attempted to take a nap after disciplship but just ended up talking with my roomies for a bit. We left for the weekly meeting where disaster struck. Everything was working great up until about 30 minutes before we were to start when we couldn't get any of our mics to work. Then the projector wouldn't work either so we went with a completely unplugged weekly meeting which eliminated Dave and my job all together. Today I had off from work and have just been doing laundry since the staff are gone for the week. Tonight is night of reflection but Jen and I might go and try and see a concert. I have bug spray finally YEY

6/20- 6/25

Tuesday was rather uneventful. I had the day off so Jen, Dave, and I went down to the beach and just relaxed. I fell asleep and forgot to pick Drew up from work so that was bad but all in all it was pretty relaxing. Wednesday I went to work and then we had community group. For our community group time we had a BBQ and then went down to the beach to watch the fireworks. Unfortunetly we were a week early for the fireworks so Jordan, Tommy, Dave, Rose, Laura, and Christine all decided to jump in the freezing cold ocean. Thursday I went to work once again. Thursday night was mens and womens time where it was so hot inside we all thought we were going to pass out. It was so hot that I actually drank soda for the first time in months because it was the only cold drink there was. After mens and womens time we had our Thursday night dousings where I still managed to stay dry. Friday I had work and then Drew, Adam, Jen, Courtney and I drove to Salem to go to the mall where I found a target and was super excited. The 40 minute drive will be made again just to visit said Target. The mall was great! Victoria Secret was having there semianual sale so I stocked up on a few esentials. I also found this great store H&M. They have super cute stuff for way cheap. Friday night we had a time of worship and it was awesome. Saturday I had a massive migraine when I woke up so I opted out of work and just slept once I dropped Drew off. At 2 we had outreach where it was once again cold and rainy. We wrote some letters to students in Kahzakstan and went out on the beach for a little outreach as well. After outreach we had an international dinner. That was one of the most difficult things I have ever experianced in my life but it really opened my eyes to many things not only about myself but about others. For those of you unaware of what an international dinner is everyone is divided up into different countries or regions. We had America, East Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, and a Lost country. It is basicly the Americans job to spread the gospel (or meat) to every other country before the rapture but no one is told this before hand. Everyone is divided up and treated differently. I was one of 4 Americans and it was very difficult in the end after seeing everything that was able to distract us and how wasteful we were. I will make a seperate post later all about it with pictures but for now I am off to go buy bug spray and something to keep me from itching because I am covered in mosquito bites AHHHHHH!

Gettin in to the groooove

Monday was just another typical day at work. We were like super duper busy but other than that not much occured. After work I went and took my Audrey to get her oil changed finally and talked to Bryan and Kiki on the phone. Then I went and picked some cookies and soda up from the grocery store for the weekly meeting and bought some flowers for Rose for her Birthday. The bank was my next stop where I opened my 3rd bank account. FYI there are no WellsFargos on the east coast. The weekly meeting went pretty good other than some technical difficulties with Jordans guitar and me almost going deaf and blind because of Dave (if Dave asks you to sit in front of a speaker to listen if sound is coming out don't!) Tuesday was my day off so I just went down to the beach with Jen for a few hours and took a nap. I sunburnt the top of one of my hands because who really thinks to put sunscreen there? After that I just pretty much slept because going to the beach is hard work :) Today I worked from 6 am- 1 pm and it was so slow. I have been trying to write my testimony the last few minutes but the words don't seem to come so I am going to head to the grocery store and pick up some vegitable for the barbeque tonight that we are having with our community group.

P.S. There will be absolutely NO pictures of me in my DD uniform EVER! Even if there were pictures I would not put them on the internet for all to see. Thank ya

June 15- June 18...the adventure continues

So normally when I am sick I end up on the computer all the time but not while I am here. Wednesday night ended with me calling the cops because a bunch of drunk guys were on our porch at 1 am trying to fight Adam and Kevin. Thursday I went back to work at Dunkin Donuts and it was actually an okay day other than my throat killing me. We had womens time afterwards and it was a really good time. Then the usual Thursday night dousings occurred and I was safe once again since everyone loves me so much! I pretty much just passed out after dousings because I was so tired and had to work once again at 6 am. Friday at work was so busy. It was the last day of school for kids out here so they had a late start day. All the parents brought in like 7 kids and got sandwiches for them. It was hectic. Friday afternoon I took Jen to the hospital to get her hand rechecked and then we went to walmart to get things for our SPUDs (secret person under disguise). Friday night I went with Adam and some girls to the mall and then we came back and played an awesome game of signs. Saturday morning started off at 6 am once again at Dunkin Donuts where it was the busiest it has ever been. Around 9 am I almost passed out from not eating or drinking anything for the last 2 days because my throat hurt so bad. I got some OJ in me and then back to work. After work we had our group picture and then outreach on the beach. We were going to have a Volleyball tournament but got in trouble for not having a permit. After much talking to the police we were allowed to continue as long as we didn't award prizes and didn't call it a tournament. My team made it to the second round but then lost. I had a major migraine by the end of the tournament so I went to sleep at about 6 pm. Everyone else had a staff scavenger hunt and then a bon fire at one of the churches. I pretty much slept most the night except for waking up around midnight because I felt so icky for not taking my medicine the night before but was so out of it that I knew I could not safely make it from my top bunk down to the floor without killing myself so I just made myself go back to sleep. At about 4:45 I woke up once again and decided to climb down and take my pills and shower. Just a note, showering when you are really dizzy is hard work. After my shower I got back into bed and slept till 7:15 when I got up and got dressed really quickly because we needed to leave for church at 7:30. We went to the conservative service this morning and it was so boring. Everyone was falling asleep. We went and had breakfast in the fellowship hall and then I went down to work with my toddlers. We had 4 new toddlers today so it was a little bit hectic but fun as usual. After church Jessica, Laura, and I were all supposed to go home with our adoptive family's except Laura got sick so only Jessica and I went. Our mom is Diane Day and she is super sweet but not my kind of cook except she makes killer guacamole. Our dad is Frank Day and he is really funny and awesome. We have a little brother who is 14 and going to be a freshman in high school and plays football. Our little sister is 16 and going to be a junior in high school and is an awesome soccer player. We also got to meet with the grandparents and they are really sweet and talkative. Diane took us for a drive up to Maine after lunch. That is pretty much it for right now. I have work again in the morning and then our weekly meeting tomorrow night. <3

The Sweetest Thing

Today was my day off from work which was good because there was no way I was going to be able to go in. After I woke up I was feeling pretty okay and some people were driving up to Maine so I decided I would go since I was going a little crazy not being able to do anything. Maine was so beautiful. We drove up the coast and I have come to the realization that maybe southern california is not the center of the universe and it wouldn't suck to live some place else. I started feeling a little sick in Maine so I was happy when everyone else was ready to get back. I went and tried to take a nap when I got home but I was extremely dizzy so all I could do was lay there with my eyes closed and feel sick. It was by no means my favorite and I would not recommend trying to sleep while dizzy to anyone. I also had to lay on my back because my ears hurt too much to turn my head to either side. After trying to sleep for about 3 hours I got up and ate for the first time in over a day. The girls had made pancakes so it was nice to just eat something soft. Afterwards I decided to shower and then go to the store during reflection time since I was finally not dizzy for once. Unfortunetly I got really dizzy while I was at the store and was totally glad I had a cart for support. I just sat for awhile when I got home and then took my meds which proceeded to make me loopy as well as dizzy and naseuas. Then the sweetest thing happened. Adam asked me to go sit in the Cafe and Adam, Drew, and Rico had made me soup. Not just soup from a can but actually made soup. Everyone prayed over me and it was just awesome. I love everyone here so much. I ate the soup even though I wasn't hungry and it was really good. It was the sweetest thing anyone has done for me in awhile. They all deserve the candy cane of kindness. I was planning on going to work tomorrow but everyone has told me that I shouldn't since I am still having to hold on to walls as I walk so I think I am going to call in sick again. I am starting to feel undizzy again so I am going to try and sleep. I hope everyone is doing well and I appreciate all of your support and prayers. <3

A quick post about A) what a dousing is and B) why one would become doused.

A) A dousing is a weekly event where people can bring up grivences against others and cause them to become doused (a bucket of water is dumped on them).

B) Dousable offenses include:
having your phone go off during a group meeting
sleeping in the lobby
leaving your things lying around common areas
being more than 5 minutes late to any group meeting
giving co-ed massages
having water enter the White Gull in any unapproved manner (no water wars in the house)

My trip to the ER

Yesterday I had to call in sick to work because I was not doing to good. That is the first time I have ever called in sick and actually been sick :) I unfortunetly still had to drive Drew to work at 6 am but went back to sleep for a few hours after that. When I woke up I went on a hunt for a doctor to fix me up. I made an appointment for 3:30 and asked someone else to drive me because I can't really see. When I went to pick Drew up from work this liquid started draining out of my ear. It was so nasty. Christine drove me to the doctor only to find out that they lied and couldn't see me even though I told her I had out of state insurance and all that jazz so Christine and I ventured to the ER. At the ER we ran into a fellow project mate, Norm, who had sliced his finger open at McDonalds trying to open a box of happy meal toys. As we sat in the ER we came to the realization that we had 3 cars there and that they would be short back at the White Gull trying to get people to the Weekly Meeting so we sent Christine back with my keys and Norm and I waited. Norm received 5 stiches and I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, an ear infection, a possible eye infection, and a semi ruptured ear drum ( the doctor said it looked like red parchment paper inside my ear because of all the blood and yucky stuff). We then headed to walgreens for my multitude of prescriptions and then off to the weekly meeting. The doctor told me not to take all my meds at once because they would make me a bit loopy so I staggered them out only to become very nauseas and dizzy at the weekly meeting. Luckly for me Dr. Norm was there (Norm is premed) and he made sure I didn't fall over or anything. My plan was to go right to bed, however, laying down made the naseau and dizziness way worse so I had to climb back out of my bunk bed and just sit in the lobby for a few hours till things settled down in my head. I was finally able to go and lay down only to cough all night long. My poor roommates have had to put up with all of this and have been taking super good care of me. Everyone has been taking really good care of me, actually. If you ever get sick hope that a bunch of Christians are around :)

June 7th through June 11th

Wednesday was a very lazy day. Most people didn't have to go into work because it was so rainy so we spent the day watching movies and building puzzles. I started feeling a little bit sick Wednesday but it wasn't too bad. We had community groups that night and went out to dinner at Ocean Wok. It is definitely no Lettuce Wok and Roll but it was okay. Thursday I had to work once again but my room was so cold the night before that I got no sleep at all because all I could do was shiver. Dunkin Donuts is definitely the worst job I have had thus far but hopefully it will get better. I was supposed to have Disipleship Thursday afternoon but Angela was sick so Adam, Rico, and I went to the mall instead. I bought some warm clothes so that I can keep from freezing my butt off at night. Thursday night we had Mens/Womens time and it was awesome. I love all these girls so much. Thursday was also our first night of dousings. I luckily was able to avoid it this week but others were not as lucky. Thursday night I started feeling a little worse and my voice was a bit manly. Friday I once again had to work at DD at 6 am where my voice continued to get worse. After work Jen and I went to Wallmart to buy me a blanket and some cold medicine. On the way home we stopped at a Thrift store and it was great. I bought a skateboard and some shoes for $8 and Jen got a pair of boots for $5. Friday night I said I would help babysit for the Burtons so that Jessica could raise more support money (she had never babysat before). So Jess and I got to play with Carly and watch TV Friday night while the Burtons went out. It was fun but by the end of the night my voice was GONE. Saturday morning was spent working at DD once again. I had no voice at all so working the cash register was interesting but people felt sorry for me and left me a lot of tips. After work I showered to get ready for outreach but started feeling horrible. Jeff made me go to sleep instead of doing outreach and I pretty much slept the next 6 hours. Saturday nights we normally play games but since I was still not feeling well and had no voice I decided to just watch. I went to sleep after that while everyone else had a dance party. Today I decided not to go to church because I didn't want to get all the little kids sick so I let them take my truck and I just stayed and slept. A bunch of people are going down to Boston today but I will have to wait for some other time to go. My voice is back a little bit but I still sound like a man. We have our servant group meetings tonight but other than that the day should be fairly lazy. It has quit raining so maybe I will go nap on the beach for a bit while I have the chance.

Dunkin Donuts Day 2

Today was my first day of work at DD. Have I mentioned how much of a morning person I'm not??? UGH I only got about 3 hours of sleep and then I get there and have to sit and do computer training for another 3 hours. I kept falling asleep and wanted to kick people. Once I finally got out of there things weren't to bad though. I learned how to scoop ice cream (we are a baskin robins too) and make all the drinks so it was pretty cool. The outfit is horrible though. I have to wear pants that don't go down to my ankles and that come up to under my boobs and a shirt thats like 5 times bigger than me and a stupid visor. It was bad. I don't have to work tomorrow which is cool so I can sleep in all day :)

Dunkin Donuts Day 1

So today I had training for Dunkin Donuts. We got to sit in front of computers for 4 hours and be bored out of our minds. It was so awful. Training got done at 5:10 and I had to rush back to the Gull to eat really fast before heading to set up for the weekly meeting. So I was driving down the strip with 4 girls in my car (1 more than seatbelts) and I suppose I was driving a little to California for out here and got pulled over. Apparently I was going 50 in a 30 (lies) and then He asked me if my truck had directionals. Directionals? I had no clue what he was talking about and just gave him this look like huh? Apparently thats what they call the turn signal/blinker out here. Anywho somehow by the grace of God I didn't get a ticket (I'm not sure if it was because we were a car full of girls or what). So we make it to the barn and were only 15 minutes late or so because I got lost as usual. The first meeting went pretty good all things considered. I am on the tech crew with Dave and we had so much fun playing with all the equipment. There are a few things we sill need to work out but I think they will be moving smoothly in no time. I don't know if I have mentioned this yet but the guy to girl ratio here is 11 to 34 or something insane like that lol. I have my first actual day of work at Dunkin Donuts tomorrow so I should get sleep or something (yea right).

Just another rainy day...

So the weather out here has sucked. Yesterday it was raining way to much and it was freezing so we had to change our outreach plans from going to the beach to finding indoor places with lots of people. My group went up to a Barns and Noble (which has starbucks by the way) and got to talk to some interesting people. Jessica and I spent over an hour talking to this one man and it was just awesome. After everyone got back we decided to go out to dinner at Little Jacks. After getting for about 20 minutes we found it and decided it was too expensive for our taste so we then went looking for chilies. I have yet to get the directions down for out here and no one else has really either so we got way lost and decided to just eat at this little Chinese place. Anytime you get in the car with me its a guaranteed adventure because we ALWAYS get lost. Hopefully with time it will get easier but for now we drive in circles a lot. Last night we had "movie night" where we all got in groups had to come up with a scene with a certain person and situation using some weird props. Ours was Cher on a date and they were all pretty darn funny. Today we had church for the first time. My group is attending Bethany Church, which is the biggest church in New Hampshire. I got to work with the toddlers during the 9:30 service, which involved me holding a little boy named Grantly the entire time reading him Thomas the tank because he would freak out with everyone else, and then we all attended the 11 am "contemporary service." It definitely wasn't what I was expecting in terms of contemporary but it was okay. They serve a full continental breakfast in between each service so that's one less meal I have to worry about each week. Afterwards I came back to the White Gull with a few people and just laid by the fire and took a nap. I will be getting a dousing but oh well it was worth it. Tomorrow I have training with Dunkin Doughnuts and then we have our first weekly meeting Tomorrow night so it should be a packed day. I can't believe that DD expects me to work 6 am- 1 pm Monday - Friday and then 6 am- 12 pm Saturday every week. Don't these people realize I am NOT a morning person. Anywho its like 3 am now so I should get some sleep.

Dance Party

Today was amazing. It rained all day which sucked but we totally had a chance to get to know each other and have fun. We started out meeting with our groups (it's all about the weekly meeting here) and then had 5 hours to get to know our bible study groups in "soul to soul" It was way emotional but totally helped me to connect to the girls and really relate to them. We then went and had dinner at Bethany church (my church for this summer) and saw Jana do an amazing skit. I signed up to work with the toddlers each week for sunday school and i am super stoked! When we got back some how a dance party got started in the lobby and it was so fun. Everyone was gettin their groove on. It got way hot inside so some of us were on the porch chillaxin and Z was telling a story and for some reason I asked him if he wanted to be "tazed" thinking no one in their right mind would ever want to. I was wrong and he was all for it but I was to much of a chicken to do it so Danny took care of it after we all said a prayer. It was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. We took many pictures and tried to do some video but it was to dark to really get anything good. I am tired so I am out for the night so CYA!

"That girl who drove from California"

I have finally moved past being called "the girl who drove from california" which was my name for the first day or so. I had numerous people just coming up to me asking me that. Job hunting hasn't been that successful so far but I am sure God has the right job for me somewhere. Today there was a HUGE storm that came through right as we were leaving for church so I had to drive in the thunder and lightning and I was so freaked out. I have pretty much been freaked out all night because of the dumb storm. We have a concert venue litterly right next door to us and Stained is playing tonight so I have just been sitting on the porch listening to them since I got home. We went on an adventure today to find a starbucks 3 towns over. We finally found it and it was amazing. I am tired so I am outta here

P.S. toll roads suck
